Joe Neal
Joe Neal graduated from the University of Western Ontario Law School in 1981 and began practicing in Oshawa as a sole practitioner in 1984. In October of 2006 he formed the firm Neal & Mara, Barristers & Solicitors with Kevin Mara.
Joe is a former Trustee with a local school board and the former Chair of the Research
Ethics Board at Lakeridge Health. He is also currently serving as a Local Councillor for
Ward 1 in Clarington.
Joe has a wide variety of experience in all aspects of law, including real estate, civil and estate litigation, family, criminal law, labour, and corporate and commercial law. Joe’s
practice has involved considerable transactional work on the purchase, sale, and financing
of small to medium sized companies, and he provides ongoing advice to corporate clients.
He has professional affiliations with the Law Society of Upper Canada, Canadian Bar Association and Durham Region Law Association.

Kevin Mara
Kevin Mara worked in management with a large Canadian retailer for 18 years before beginning his career in law. Kevin graduated from Dalhousie University Law School in
1998 and joined one of Durham’s largest firms in January 2000 as an associate solicitor.
In October 2006 he formed a new firm in Oshawa, Neal & Mara, Barristers & Solicitors with Joe Neal.
Kevin provides services to individuals and businesses in corporate and commercial matters, estate planning and administration and residential and commercial real estate. He is
a former President and currently a Director on the Board for the Greater Oshawa Chamber
of Commerce. He is a past Director of the Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade, a past Director
and Chair of Business Advisory Centre Durham and a past member of the Estate Planning Council of Oshawa/Whitby. His education includes Durham College (Human Resources Management 1989) and Dalhousie University Law School (LL.B. 1998).
He has professional affiliations with the Law Society of Upper Canada, Canadian Bar Association and Durham Region Law Association.
